About the band
Buffalo's Favorite Brass Band
The Honk Committee is a brass band based in Buffalo, NY, playing a variety of high energy rock and pop covers, as well as our own original music on brass instruments. Our instrumentation and music choices are inspired by groups such as Lucky Chops, YoungBlood Brass, Too Many Zooz, and Moon Hooch. We aim to show off the many sounds of trombone, saxophones, trumpets, sousaphone, and drum set in ways you haven’t heard before, with the goal of creating a genre defying experience!
The Honk Committee was founded in April of 2024 as a group of mostly SUNY Fredonia alumni and one brave aerospace engineer who is the smartest among us. Our first public honk was at the 2024 Buffalo PorchFest where we played many pop and rock covers, as well as some Lucky Chops tunes. Since then, we have been inspired to venture out and share our own creative takes and twists on our covers, and even developing our own original songs, lovingly called, "original honks," in whichever genre we please and creating our own sound and style along the way.
